The pool season is almost here and the Ashland Parks & Recreation Commission (APRC) Daniel Meyer Pool invites all to the Daniel Meyer Pool this summer. The pool will reopen on Thursday, June 15.
The popular “Island Night: An Aloha State of Mind,” is set for 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 22, featuring live Hawaiian music, hula dancing performance and fun activities for all ages at the pool. Reduced admission of $2 will be charged.
Daniel Meyer Pool, an outdoor facility in Hunter Park at 1705 Homes Ave., will be open through early September. The pool offers lap swim, rec swim, water fitness classes, swim lessons for all ages and more. The pool can be reached directly at 541-488-0313 beginning June 15.
Registration for swim lessons will open at 8:30 a.m. Friday, June 16. Register swimmers by calling 541-488-5340 or stop by APRC's Rec Division at The Grove at 1195 East Main St. The Grove is open 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Returning swimmers will be placed in the appropriate-level class, based on placement from the previous swim season.
New swimmers will be placed in the beginning-level class (red) corresponding to the student's age group. If a parent/guardian requests specific level placement, the swimmer will need to be swim-tested. After June 15, call the pool to schedule a testing time, offered at no charge. (Swimmers may register before testing, as their level can be updated after they're tested. Placement is at the discretion of SAI-certified swim lesson instructors.)
