SOU Wind Ensemble: Southern Oregon University's Wind Ensemble, directed by Cynthia Hutton, will present music from Latin America at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 8, in the Music Recital Hall, 405 S. 'A Tribute to Ella Fitzgerald': Often referred to as the First Lady of Song, Queen of Jazz and Lady Ella, Ella Fitzgerald won 14 Grammy Awards during her career. She was named Best Female Singer by Downbeat magazine 21 times in 18 years. She received the Medal of Freddom from President George H.W. Bush and dozens of other awards from around the world. Ashland singer Sue Carney will perform Fitzgerald's music — backed by keyboard player Michael Vannice, bassist David Miller and percussionist Steve Sutfin — at 8 p.m. Thursdays and Friday, June 8-9 and 15-16, and 2 p.m. Saturdays, June 10 and 17, at Bellview Grange, 1050 Tolman Creek Road, Ashland. Garden Tour: The American Association of University Women self-guided Spring Garden Tour is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, June 10, at six gardens in Medford, Central Point, Jacksonville and Talent. The gardens range from a poolside paradise to a country pollinator garden to a showcase for glass garden art. Tickets are $20 and are available in advance at Jackson County Grange Co-op stores, the Blue Door in Jacksonville, Caprice Winery and Penny and Lulu’s Studio Florist in Medford.
