Miscommunication with his family led to a search Monday afternoon for a 29-year-old Rogue River man and his 7-year-old daughter who were believed to have gotten lost Sunday while mushroom picking in the Howard Prairie Lake area, authorities said.
Justin Morretti intended to spend the night in the woods with his daughter Selah, but Morretti's family believed they were due back Sunday, according to the Jackson County Sheriff's Office. The pair were reported missing at 10:30 a.m. Monday, deputies said.
About 25 searchers and three aircraft were sent to the area, and deputies found the pair surprised but safe off a spur road east of Howard Prairie Lake, sheriff's Sgt. Shawn Richards said. They later went home, Richards said.
