Artist Competition: Registration is open for the Southern Oregon Plein Air 2017 outdoor painting competition running from Thursday, June 29, through Saturday, July 1, at various locations. Registration by May 15 costs $65 and includes a pre-event "Cork and Fork" dinner with no host wine bar Wednesday, June 28, at Paschal's Winery and Vineyard in Talent. Registration from May 15 through the deadline of June 3 costs $75. Artists will have an opportunity to display their finished paintings. More than $1,500 in cash and prizes will be awarded. Breakfast: The Rogue Valley New Day Network breakfast will begin at 8 a.m. Friday, April 21, at the Rogue Valley Unitarian Fellowship, 87 Fourth St., Ashland. The breakfast will focus on the role of media in an era when they have been called "an enemy of the people" and "the opposition party." Jeff Golden will be the guest speaker. The RV New Day Network promotes peace, justice and sustainability in the Rogue Valley. All are welcome and asked to bring utensils, plate, napkin, cup and food to share.
