Will Ransom: Singer, actor and Ashland High School student Will Ransom — along with guitarist Paul Turnipseed, bassist Jeff Addicott, drummer Mike Fitch, sax player Gordon Greenley and jazz pianist David Scoggin — will present "An Evening with Gershwin and Other Songs of Love" at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, in the Music Recital Hall, 405 S. Mountain Ave., on the Southern Oregon University campus in Ashland. The program will include contemporary arrangements of American standards. Tickets are $10 in advance and can be purchased at Paddington Station and Omar's Restaurant. Tickets will be $12 at the door, $8 for students and seniors. Part of the proceeds will benefit Ashland Emergency Food Bank.
Cuba film: A screening of "Curtain of Water," about photographer Joe Guerriero's quest to understand the U.S. commercial and financial blockade of Cuba, is planned at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, at the Ashland library, 410 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland. Climate forum: "Nature’s Trust, Our Children’s Trust: A Climate Forum on Litigation to Save the Future" is planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 13, in the Rogue River Room of the Stevenson Union at Southern Oregon University, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland. The program will feature Mary Christina Wood, author of "Nature’s Trust: Environmental Law for a New Ecological Age," and four young climate activists. The forum is being sponsored by ECOS Sustainability Resource Center at Southern Oregon University and the League of Women Voters Rogue Valley.
