A film showing present-day “pioneers” traveling the Applegate Trail on foot, horseback and in covered wagons, following the path journeyed by hardy souls as they made their way west, will be shown on Friday, April 14, at the Siskiyou County Museum. Included is a recreation of the way wagons were lowered down steep terrain, which the film illustrates in the Pinehurst region of southern Oregon southeast of Ashland.
Showing of the 40-minute movie about the 150th anniversary of the Applegate Wagon Trail in 1996, including the depiction of crossing the Jenny Creek Slide, begins at 12:10 p.m. in the conference room of the Siskiyou County Museum, 910 South Main Street, Yreka.
The events is free and open to the public. Donations to support museum programs are always welcome. Reservations are not required but are appreciated. Call the museum at 530-842-3836 for details.
