Ashland Kiwanis honored Karl Moeglein as its February Student of the Month. Kiwanis recognizes senior students from AHS each month during the school year.

Karl has done all his formal education in the Ashland School District with stops at Helman, Willow Wind, Ashland Middle School and, of course Ashland High School. He is an active member of the AHS Speech and Debate team and now serves on the team's board. Some of his biggest accomplishments include reaching the semifinals of the 2017 Stanford Invitational in parliamentary debate and attending the National Speech and Debate Tournament in Extemporaneous Speaking every year since his sophomore year.

Karl is also one of the current editors of the Rogue News and does local broadcasting work with Table Rock Sports.

Karl has also found time for some community service and volunteer work. Examples include his church youth Collective and four mission trips.

He will attend the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University while pursuing a major in Broadcast and Digital Journalism. This will put him on a path to work towards his goal of a career in sports broadcasting.

Karl was presented the Ashland Kiwanis Student of the Month award certificate, plus $50 in cash, by the club’s Chad Smith. In May, the $1,000 Tommy Laird Kiwanis College Scholarship will be awarded to selected Youth of the Month recipients.
