The Equamore Foundation in Ashland recently received a grant from the Doris Day Animal Foundation to help fund its “Foot Fetish” project to provide special care, including shoes, medicines and other treatments, for horses with serious lameness issues.

The Doris Day Animal Foundation (www.ddaf.org), a national nonprofit organization founded by the actress and singer Doris Day, was founded in 1978 as part of Day's lifelong efforts in animal welfare.

“When we learned of Equamore Foundation's excellent efforts in providing rescue and sanctuary for horses, we knew we would be proud to help support their efforts,” Day said from her home in Carmel, California.

Equamore Foundation has provided rescue and sanctuary for abused and neglected horses for more than 25 years.
