'The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940'

Longtime Oregon Shakespeare Festival actor Michael J. Hume directs playwright John Bishop's wildly witty whodunit at the Mountain Avenue Theatre at Ashland High School, 201 S. Mountain Ave., Ashland. With a cast and crew of theater program students, this farcical escapade features nonstop hilarious moments as characters untangle the mystery of the infamous "Stage Door Slasher" in a house designed with sliding panels, secret passageways, knives springing out of nowhere and a maid who seems to pop up everywhere. Shows are set for 7:30 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays, Nov. 3-5 and Nov. 10-12. Matinees are at 2 p.m. Sundays, Nov. 6 and 13. Soprano Deborah Voigt will lead a concert of arias performed by 10 emerging and professional opera singers at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, in the Music Recital Hall, 405 S. Mountain Ave., on the Southern Oregon University campus, Ashland. Accompaniment will be provided by pianist Laurie Anne Hunter. A reception will follow the performance. Dave Bernard stars as Country Music Hall of Famer Kenny Rogers in a musical spotlight to be previewed at 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10. It opens Friday, Nov. 11, and runs through Nov. 20 at Camelot Theatre, 101 Talent Ave., Talent.
