Students and parents interested in submitting a film to the 2017 AIFF Launch student film competition are encouraged to attend an informational meeting from 7 to 8:40 p.m. Thursday, March 3, at the Ashland Middle School library.
Ashland Independent Film Festival development associate Stacy Van Voorhees and director of operations Wendy Connor will be there to answer questions and explain how to prepare a successful AIFF entry.
AIFF's student film competition is a free regional contest that seeks the best short student-made films in the Southern Oregon and Northern California region. Students from kindergartners to college undergraduates are eligible.
Winning films are screened as part of the five-day Ashland Independent Film Festival every April. Winning student directors receive cash prizes and are invited to participate in festival activities, including post-screening question-and-answer sessions with audiences.
