Open House: The Ashland Gun Club will host an open house from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 17 and 18, at the Ashland Gun Club, 555 Emigrant Creek Road, Ashland. Club members will be available to explain our gun and archery shooting opportunities and to give tours of the facilities. Free Rifle Sight-In Days will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 17, 18 and 24. Range Safety Officers will be present to monitor shooting and safety. Club members with spotting scopes will be available to assist with shot adjustment. Bring your rifle(s), ammo, targets, eye and ear protection. Families welcome to both events. Big Barn Bazaar: The Big Barn Bazaar has a wide variety of new and lightly used items from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at Equamore Sanctuary Barn, 4723 Highway 66, Ashland. Wisdom Gardening: The Havurah Synagogue invites all interested families to our opening day of Wisdom Garden, a Jewish Journey for 6-14 year-olds, at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, in the gazebo of North Mountain Park. There will be songs, storytelling, a scavenger hung for children of all ages followed by a light lunch and sharing about our program that connects children with their rich, Jewish heritage including ethics, values, Hebrew, prayer and culminates in a coming of age ritual for your child. Chess: Ashland Contemporary Theatre, in association with Livia Genise Productions, presents the Tony Award winning musical, "Chess" in Concert. Performances will be at 8 p.m. Sept. 17 and 2 p.m. Sept. 18 at the Ashland Community Center, 59 Winburn Way; and at 8 p.m. Sept. 24 and 2 p.m. Sept. 25 at the Bellview Grange, 1050 Tolman Creek Road, Ashland. Park Clean-up: The Ashland Kiwanis club will team up with the Rotary Club of Ashland Lithia Springs to help the Parks and Rec Department do some more weeding and gardening-type work at Scenic Park from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17. Both clubs have “adopted” this park for quarterly work of this nature. Many volunteers from the clubs are expected to participate.
