  •  You are a chiropractor in Grants Pass. What are you offering for Ashland people?
It’s a gluten-free support group to teach people how to make the shift to a more healthy diet. Many people are gluten-intolerant but most of us are gluten-sensitive. The most important thing is to identify the problem and to get on a treatment plan. I’ve done this group for 200 Grants Pass residents over three years and noticed the people needed support from each other to succeed.
You hear about gluten all the time now. What happened? Why is it so important now?
Gluten, if your body can’t handle it, can cause intestinal inflammation, trigger antibody response and can even affect brain tissue and lead to auto-immune disorders. It’s getting connected with many ailments, including chronic fatigue syndrome, irritable bowel syndrome, constipation.
What does this have to do with chiropractic and why are you making this trip to Ashland?
I have several patients from Ashland who come see me in Grants Pass. There’s a need in Ashland. I have a lot of continuing education in neurolepsy, blood chemistry and endochrinology, which is about hormones. Gluten issues are ubiquitous now. They are serious with 84 percent of the population who have an inflammation reaction to gluten and create antibodies. Autoimmune reactions are going through the roof.
When and where does the group meet?
It’s 11 Saturday morning, Sept.27 in the Ashland library. If there’s enough interest, I will keep doing it, probably monthly. It’s free.
