  • Two fires have been reported in Klamath County camping and recreational areas.
The Launch Fire, burning near Fourmile Lake on Fremont-Winema National Forest lands, has grown to 100 acres in size. Eight fire engines, two helicopters, a hand crew and an airplane are battling the blaze, and more resources are being summoned.
The fire's cause is not yet known.
A 25-acre fire is burning in the Pumice Flat area at Crater Lake National Park's south end.
The blaze was discovered at 11:15 a.m. Monday, July 28, in mixed conifer forestland, which includes hemlock, fir and pine trees. It is likely a slow-to-start holdover from last week's lightning storm.
There is no full containment date set. There are 55 firefighters working to contain the flames, according to the Incident Information System website. The park is not closed, though hikers on the Pacific Crest Trail could be impacted in the coming weeks depending on how containment efforts fair.
