Geraldine Eunice Oeser of Medford, Ore. went to be with her Lord Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at the age of 94.

Geraldine was born January 19, 1920 to Ella (Root) and Maurice Thompson in Arago, Ore. As a child growing up in the depression years, her family moved many times to wherever her father found work. Quite a bit of her childhood was spent on the Oregon coast.

When Geraldine was 18 her family moved to Ashland, Ore. where they operated a small diner. It was while working in the diner that Geraldine met Karl Oeser. Karl and Geraldine were married Christmas day, 1938 in Grenada, Calif. After their marriage they made their home in Ashland where they owned and operated Oeser's Service Station for approximately 34 years. Geraldine did the bookkeeping, helped pump gas, washed cars, and what she always considered her most important job raising their three children. In 1962 they moved the business to a building they had constructed on Lithia Way. In 1968 they built a new building where the old service station had been and opened Oeser Fabrics, which remained in business for 17 years.

In their retirement years Karl and Geraldine enjoyed traveling and being able to spend more time with friends and family. They celebrated 57 years of marriage prior to Karl's death in 1996. Through all her years Geraldine liked to be busy and productive. She was an excellent cook and seamstress. She loved to make quilts for others, whether it was family or friends.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband, Karl; son, Gordon; and brother, David. She is survived by two daughters, Jeanette Oeser of Medford, Ore. and Julia Grimes (Floyd) of Ashland, Ore.; her brother, Richard Thompson (Barbara) of Medford, Ore.; sister-in-law, Vivian Thompson of Hawaii; seven grandchildren, Steven Harvey (Sherrie) of Butte Falls, Ore., Timothy Harvey (Amy) of Medford, Ore., Myron Harvey (Jana) of Eagle Point, Ore., Kristina Murrell of Salem, Ore., Rebecca Olson (Larry) of Central Point, Ore., Daniel Grimes (Paula) of Medford, Ore., and Paul Zickefoose (Judi) of Edmonds, Wash.; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren, with two more on the way.

Special thanks from the family to the in-home care staff at Barnett Woods Retirement Center and Asante Hospice for all the care and assistance given to Geraldine.

A memorial service for Geraldine will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 16, 2014 at Central Neighborhood Church, 4777 South Pacific Highway, Phoenix, OR 97535.
