Robert "Bob" Bolster passed away peacefully at home January 10, 2014. He was 92 years old.
Bob was born in New York City. He volunteered for the Army Air Corps and served for three and a half years in the South Pacific rebuilding P-38s and other planes.
Upon his honorable discharge, Bob attended Rochester Institute, learning the printing and print setting trade.
In 1968 Bob moved to the Rogue Valley. Having worked for a number of papers in the U.S., he worked briefly for the Medford Mail Tribune.
Bob was an accomplished woodworker and machinist. He made a number of his own tools including belt sanders and wood turning lathes. He was also a friend of the library and had made several items for the Ashland and Talent Public Libraries, including bookcases which are still in use.
Bob was a good friend and will be missed.
