Beloved Abdallah Hayel El-Attrash, second cousin of the late Sultan Pasha El-Attrash, passed away peacefully in his home December 29, 2013. Born in Syria, he was a diplomat who worked for the United Nations, serving in posts in New York, Yemen, and Iraq, before retiring to Ashland, Ore. in 1997. He was an avid bridge-player in Ashland and Medford.
Abdallah was preceded in death by his wife, Isabella Burns. He is survived by his brothers, Yasser and Faysal; his sister, Assia El-Attrash; his son, Hassan El-Attrash; his three daughters Shireen Shepherd, Kerima Dusuki, and Francesca El-Attrash; and his three grandchildren, Lemeece, Karim, and Reyaan Shepherd.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, January 6, 2014 at the Rogue Valley Unitarian Universalist Church.
