A 90-year-old Ashland man died after he was struck by a car this morning while crossing Water Street at North Main Street.

A 90-year-old Ashland man died after he was struck by a car this morning while crossing Water Street at North Main Street.

Anthony "Dan" Kraft, of the 900 block of Lori Lane, Ashland, was in the crosswalk when a car making the turn onto Water Street struck him.

Kraft was knocked to the ground, striking his head, Ashland police said in a news release.

Kraft was taken to Rogue Regional Medical Center and died at around 2:30 p.m.

The driver is identified as Justin M. Tombe, 43, of the 500 block of Weller Lane, Ashland.

Police said the investigation showed Tombe was driving less than 10 miles per hour when his car struck Kraft.

The investigation continues and the case will be referred to the Jackson County District Attorney's Office, which will determine if Tombe will face criminal charges in the case.
