Ernest Lawrence Jelley passed from these Earthly bonds into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, August 20, 2012, at home in Ashland, Ore., after a long struggle with cancer. Ernest was born April 18, 1937, in Lakeview, Ore. He was a most loving husband and father.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Anna Darlene Jelley of Ashland; his four children, Ernest Jelley of Roseburg, Ore., William (Bill) Jelley of Roseburg, Ore., Jacquiline (Jackie) Hansen of Bend, Ore., and Karen Stone of American Canyon, Calif.; his brother, Caroll Jelley of Ahmednagar India; also by 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by father, Edward Fisher Jelley; mother, Margaret Elizabeth Jelley; and sister, Terry Jelley.

Ernest spent most of his working life as a mobile home park manager. Whenever jobs were hard to come by Ernest was always willing and eager to work at anything that would provide for his family, never a person to look or wait for the government or someone to give him a handout. Some of his jobs were: ranch hand, store clerk, surveyor crew, maintenance crew, and school district janitor/ maintenance man.

Ernest was a member and deacon of Alliance Bible Chapel, Ashland. His hobbies and interests were designing and making things from items found in nature, always looking to make an item of beauty using great talent of working with his hands.

Memorial service to be conducted at Alliance Bible Chapel, 748 Siskiyou Blvd. Ashland, Ore., Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 2:00 p.m., Jay Wolfman to officiate, reception to follow service at the church.

In lieu of flowers any donations are suggested to be directed to the American Cancer Society.
