Southern Oregon garnered 84 points to rank second in the Cascade Collegiate Conference women's soccer preseason coaches' poll, the league announced Wednesday.

The Raiders rank behind unanimous preseason conference favorite Concordia, which has won 14 of the last 15 regular season conference titles and drew all 10 first-place votes. Southern Oregon finished second in the regular season conference standings last season, posting a 7-2 record (11-7-1 overall) before falling in a conference tournament semifinal match.

Southern Oregon head coach Jon Clement shared conference coach of the year honors in 2011, and his squad will return eight starters in 2012. Honorable mention NAIA All-American Stephanie Carr leads the way for SOU, returning for her senior season after scoring 11 goals last year.

Following SOU in the preseason rankings were Northwest (79), Corban (71), College of Idaho (62), Warner Pacific (40), Oregon Tech (32), Evergreen (31), Eastern Oregon (30) and Northwest Christian (21).

Concordia returns three NAIA All-American honorees in forward Alex Thomas, defender Jenna Peterson and goalkeeper Tori Talbutt after the Cavaliers advanced to the NAIA national championship match last season.

The top four teams in the CCC regular season standings earn spots in the league's postseason tournament, which begins Nov. 6. The CCC tournament champion will earn the conference's automatic bid to the NAIA Championships, slated to open Nov. 17.
