Samuel D McCauley, age 81, passed away July 25, 2012, at his home in Phoenix, Ore., surrounded by his wife and family members.

Sam was born March 9, 1931, in Santa Monica, Calif.

Samuel served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Afterward, he worked at Lockheed Missile and Space, Inc. for 25 years in the Space Craft Operations, retiring in 1992. He was the co-founder of the Korean War Veteran's Assn., Chapter 257 and served as president of the organization for five years.

Sam was enthusiastic and enjoyed fast cars, motorcycles, planes, boats, camping, and electronic gadgets. He was active, and enjoyed doing volunteer work with the Sheriff's Department, Craterian Theater, and library. Sam had a fondness for red socks.

He was married to Herlinda and shared more than 25 years, giving her the happiest years of her life. He is survived by wife, Herlinda; nine children, and 18 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Saturday, August 4, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Mountain Church, 987 Hillview Dr., Ashland, Ore., Deacon Jim McVeigh Presiding. Reception immediately following services.
