Kay McChesney passed away July 19, 2012, at her home in Medford, Ore. She was born Katherine Ord April 1, 1920, in Maplewood, N.J., and attended school there before attending and graduating from the Connecticut College for Women in 1941. After college, she worked in the public relations industry in New York City.
On November 21, 1942, she married Leonard W. "Mac" McChesney, who preceded her in death in 1998. During their 55-plus happy years of marriage, Kay and Mac lived up and down the West Coast before retiring first to The Sea Ranch and finally to Napa in California. Kay moved to the Rogue Valley Manor in 2001, where she lived happily with her dachshund until the time of her passing, enjoying such activities as cuddling newborns, lawn bowling, and putting.
She is survived by one son, Doug McChesney, of Olympia, Wash.; and two daughters, Glenn Bowland, of Sausalito, Calif., and Donna "Charlie" McChesney, of Ashland, Ore.
A celebration of Kay's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 26, 2012, in the Sunrise Room at the Rogue Valley Manor. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to either the Rogue Valley Manor Fund or the R.V.M. Health Services Transportation Fund.
