The Missing Parts, based in Tucson, Ariz., plays an eclectic repertoire without ever leaving the folk realm. The band's music has been described as "institution folk," "chamber-core," "alt-punk," "string-metal" and even "Jew-grass."

The acoustic, instrumental quartet, featuring violinist Oliver Blaylock, lap-steel guitarist Douglas Francisco, cellist Brian Hullfish and guitarist Paul Wright, will perform at 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, at Liquid Assets Wine Bar, 96 N. Main St., Ashland.

The foursome first played together in 2007 in an alley outside a Tucson cafe. The brief, improvisational jam sounded good, and in 2009, they made the collaboration permanent.
