The Ashland City Council approved a $103.2 million budget for the coming fiscal year for the city government on Tuesday night. The figure is up from this fiscal year's approved budget of $96.6 million.

The new fiscal year for the city of Ashland begins on July 1.

New infrastructure projects account for much of the increase, with higher water and sewer rates paying for part of the work.

Average 12.7 percent water bill hikes and average 10 percent sewer bill increases are slated to take effect in two weeks.

Regular city property tax rates will remain flat at almost $4.20 per $1,000 in assessed property value. That will cost the owner of a home assessed at $250,000 about $1,050.
