J.D. Maulsby, an Ashland school teacher and resident for 45 years, passed away surrounded by his family Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at his home. He was born in Blair, Okla., August 12, 1935, and moved to Oregon in 1959, with his wife, Bonnie. They had two children.
J.D. was a beloved teacher and coach at Bellview Elementary and later, at Ashland Middle School, retiring after 30 years. His hobbies focused on being involved in his family's lives, fishing and rafting the Rogue River, and enjoying life on his mountain property south of Ashland.
J.D. is survived by his wife, Bonnie; daughter, Cheryl (Maulsby) Testerman, of Clermont, Fla.; son, John Maulsby, of Medford, Ore.; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren, who all adored their grandpa.
A memorial service will be held in his honor on Saturday, June 9, 2012, 11:00 a.m., at Christian Church of Ashland on the corner of 2nd and B St., officiated by Pastor Jim Larsen.
