ASHLAND — A pair of skiers for the Ashland girls team owned the slopes at Mount Ashland ski area in the Southern Oregon League district giant slalom on Friday.
The two-day event ends today with the slalom at Mount Ashland. The top boys and girls teams for the state meet will be determined based how the top individuals finish in the season standings.
Megan Ganim, as she has in four events this season, nabbed first place, edging Ashland teammate Maddie Chaves by just 23 hundreths of a second.
Ganim clocked a two-run total of 1 minute, 18.7 seconds and Chavis finished in 1:18.93.
North Medford's Rylee Houck secured third place on the day with a time of 1:23.96 and Crater's Kailey Flockoi seized fourth in 1:24.33.
For the boys, Reece Pressman slipped past Klamath's Nicholas Wogan by just six tenths of a second.
Pressman's two-run time was 1:14.84. His second run of 36.58 gave him the edge.
Wogan timed 1:14.9 followed by Phoenix's Charlie Legg who finished in 1:16.36 for third place.
Crater's Ean Flockoi, who is second to Pressman in the boys giant slalom standings, finished fourth. Flockoi clocked 1:16.63.
