Joycelynn Joyce Elizabeth Roberts DeGroot passed away January 18, 2012. She was born in Talent, Ore., on September 4, 1927. She was the fourth child born to Walter and Elizabeth Caroline (Carrie) Roberts.

Joyce attended Klamath Union High School and graduated from Dunsmuir High School. She married Robert James DeGroot on February 26, 1955, in Ashland, Ore. They raised their children there. Joyce worked at First National Bank for 40 years, retiring from First Interstate which later sold to Wells Fargo.

Joyce was active in the Alpha Club Eastern Star, Jobs Daughter Bethel 22, Demolay and Beta Sigma Phi social sorority while living in Ashland. She moved to Sherwood to be near her daughter and granddaughters in 2001, after her husband's death. In Sherwood she was a school volunteer in the class room for her granddaughters, worked with the Girl Scouts, assisting at a week long summer day camp, enjoyed membership at Curves until she broke her hip and was an active member of the Lioness club.

Joyce loved to travel to Hawaii to see her son. She collected clowns, Red Skelton prints, salt and pepper shakers, china cups, saucers and jewelry. She loved to find special gifts for the girls and each year made sure a special Christmas decoration was added to each of their collections.

Joyce touched many lives and will live in the hearts of those she has left behind. She is survived by her sister, Marlyss Wentworth, of Medford, Ore.; son, Larry DeGroot, of Honolulu, Hawaii; daughter, Wendy (Larry) Wells, of Sherwood, Ore.; grandchildren, Joyce and Elizabeth Wells, Steve and Shelle Wells, Roger and Terri Wells, and Brad and Dana Gay; and great-grandchildren, Christina Wells and Bryson Gay. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Alvin and Walter; sister, Bonita; husband, Robert Bob J DeGroot; and great-grandson, Brandon Gay.

Joyce was lovingly cared for the past two years by Eting, Augustine and Ruth Ann of Agape Foster Home of Sherwood.
