The 1935 Western “Stone of Silver Creek,” starring Buck Jones, will be shown at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, as part of the Old-Time Movie Night Series at the Christian Church of Ashland, 318 B St. Jones plays a saloon and dance-hall owner who finds religion and winds up at odds with the town preacher over a pretty gal. The 1931 drama “The Maltese Falcon,” starring Ricardo Cortez as Sam Spade, will be shown at 8 p.m. The San Francisco sleuth looks for a fabled jewel-laden, black bird in this slightly different take on the classic yarn. Nostalgic drive-in snack-bar reels and vintage coming-attraction previews will be shown between films. A snack bar will be open most of the evening.
