Senior guard Billy Hansen had 21 points to pace the Grizzlies, with 13 coming in the second half. Ashland dropped to 7-8 with its third straight loss.

Matt Retzlaff totaled 13 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals to lead the Panthers, who won their fifth straight to move to 12-2 overall. Jack Singler added 12 points, Jack Delaney had 10 and Sam Curtius chipped in with seven points and seven rebounds.

South Medford's pressing defense allowed the Panthers to take a 37-22 lead into halftime. The Grizzlies, who also got nine points apiece from Ethan Schlecht and James Skinner, finished with 16 turnovers.

Girls Basketball

SOUTH MEDFORD 92, ASHLAND 40 — Ashley Bolston went off for 20 points, seven steals, six rebounds and six assists to lead four South Medford players in double figures, and the top-ranked Panthers dominated in nonconference play at South Medford High.

Andee Ritter had 18 points, five steals and four rebounds, Kylie Towry 18 points and Lupita Vargas 12 for South (14-0), which led 28-6 by the end of the first quarter.

South guard Yaremi Mejia, who finished with seven points, eight assists and five steals, reinjured an ankle and left the game early in the fourth quarter.

Luisa Tago added eight points, seven rebounds, seven assists and four steals for the Panthers, who are ranked 11th nationally by MaxPreps.

Allison Shulenberger had nine points and Shelby Minor eight for the Grizzlies (7-7).

Women's Basketball

SOUTHERN OREGON 51, EVERGREEN 41 — At Olympia, Wash., Southern Oregon outscored Evergreen by eight points in the second half as the Raiders pulled away for a Cascade Collegiate Conference victory.

Southern Oregon (12-7, 3-5 CCC) faces Northwest tonight.

Haley Newell led Southern Oregon with 13 points on 5-for-8 shooting, including 3-for-4 from 3-point range. Angelica Cahee added 11 points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals.

Sami Clark scored 15 points and added nine rebounds and five steals.

Southern Oregon took a 24-22 lead into halftime and turned on a key 15-4 run in the second half against Evergreen (4-13, 2-6 CCC).

Men's Basketball

SOUTHERN OREGON 85, EVERGREEN 62 — At Olympia, Wash., Southern Oregon took a 17-point halftime lead en route to the Cascade Collegiate Conference victory.

Eric Thompson scored 18 points to lead SOU (13-6, 6-2 CCC), while Taylor Roos added 16 points off the bench. Terriel Thomas made six of his eight shot attempts to score 15 points and added a team-high nine rebounds in the win.

Larry Green scored 29 points and knocked down seven of his 15 3-point attempts to lead Evergreen (1-16, 0-8 CCC).

The Raiders play No. 12 Northwest tonight.
