THE FAMILY CARR

This musically gifted family will perform contemporary and traditional Irish, Galician, American and original tunes at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, at Paddy Brannan's Irish Pub, 23 S. Second St., Ashland. Kevin Carr and Josie Mendelsohn are veteran performers in the Celtic and bluegrass genres while Daniel and Molly Carr represent a younger generation of singers and players and recently have returned from living and playing overseas. The group's pipes, fiddles, guitars, mandolin and keyboards produce ancient melodies and original compositions. There is no cost to attend.

THE ROGUE SUSPECTS

Local favorite The Rogue Suspects will play a set of funk and blues at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 14 and 15, at Roscoe's BBQ, 117 S. Main St., Phoenix. The Rogue Suspects are Greg Frederick on bass and vocals, Dirk Price on guitar and vocals, Dean Angermeier on keyboards and David Bolen on drums. All four musicians have had lengthy careers in the music field, either sharing the stage with famous musicians or having their tunes used in popular television programs.

GRANT RUIZ

Guitarist Grant Ruiz will perform the authentic sounds of Spanish flamenco at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15, at The Winchester Inn's wine bar, 35 S. Second St., Ashland. Ruiz draws inspiration for his music from travels in southern Spain, home of flamenco. He is a member of the Jefferson Classical Guitar Society and Duo Flamenco with percussionist Terry Longshore. There is no cost to attend.

OLD-TIME MOVIE NIGHT

Bela Lugosi, Lionel Atwill and Ralph Morgan star in the 1942 film "Night Monster" at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Christian Church of Ashland, 318 B St. The film is about a creepy, supernatural figure stalking a country estate. Following will be the 1963 film "The Haunting," about a group of people who come to a house to study its supernatural phenomena. "Night Monster" is appropriate for all ages, but "The Haunting" may be too intense for viewers younger than 15. Admission is free, but donations are accepted.

GAYLE WILSON TRIO

Musician and television personality Gayle Wilson heads up her jazz trio of Jeff Addicott on bass and husband George Rubaloff on guitar at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, at Standing Stone Brewing Co., 101 Oak St., Ashland. Rubaloff will play songs from his own gypsy-jazz band, "Back Porch Swing." Wilson and company combine the best of their material to bring audiences vintage jazz from the '30s and '40s.

ASHLAND BLUES SOCIETY

Ashland Blues Society hosts blues jams the first and third Tuesdays of every month at Roscoe's BBQ, 117 S. Main St., Phoenix. Broadway Phil and the Shouters, a band from Grants Pass, will host the Tuesday, Oct. 18, jam. The sessions draw blues musicians from around the Rogue Valley to sit in with each other on stage. The music starts at 6:30 p.m. There is no cost to perform or attend, and Roscoe's serves up some of the best barbecue in the area.
