SPRINGFIELD — A Southern Oregon goal early in the first half proved to be enough as the Raiders defeated Northwest Christian 1-0 in Cascade Conference women's soccer Monday.

SPRINGFIELD — A Southern Oregon goal early in the first half proved to be enough as the Raiders defeated Northwest Christian 1-0 in Cascade Conference women's soccer Monday.

The Raiders improved to 6-5-1 overall and 3-1 in conference. Northwest Christian is 1-10 and 1-3. Southern Oregon returns to action at 3 p.m. Thursday at home against Trinity Lutheran.

The lone goal came in the 16th minute, when Stephanie Carr passed to Denise Powell 10 yards in front of the net. Powell knocked it in for the eventual game-winner, her third goal of the season.

Breast Cancer Awareness

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Southern Oregon University's volleyball team and Providence Medford Medical Center have teamed up for Dig For A Cure Night in conjunction with Wednesday's volleyball match against Oregon Tech.

The match is at 7 p.m. at Bob Riehm Arena.

A portion of the paid admission will go to the Sister Therese Kohles Fund for mammography. Fans, who are encouraged to wear pink, may also make donations.
