Doris Mannion passed away on Friday, September 30, 2011, in her home with her daughter, Lori, at her side.

Doris was born on February 26, 1934, in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, to Harold "Harry" Nason and Edith Arbuckle Nason. She met her husband, Air Force Master Sergeant Hubert "Hubbie" "Curly" Mannion, at the Goose Bay Air Force Base in Labrador, Newfoundland, where Doris was an Air Force civilian employee. They were married at the base on November 18, 1960. After a move to California, Doris received an associates of applied science degree in accounting and then continued on to get a bachelors of science in accounting from Sacramento State University. She relocated to Ashland, Ore., in 1993.

Doris was active in the local AAUW and received The Women in History Award for her outstanding service to the Ashland branch of the AAUW and to the community of Ashland. In 1994, Doris began volunteering with the Tudor Guild. She served on the Tudor Guild Board of Directors and as Treasurer. Most notably, in 2010, she was awarded the Gina Marie Romeo Award for "providing consistently outstanding service to the Tudor Guild." For many years she assisted OSF in the ticket box for the Elizabethan Theatre. Doris also volunteered with both the Siskiyou Singers and the Southern Oregon Repertory Singers. She was ticket manager, house manager, and usher coordinator for both groups. Additionally, Doris volunteered part-time with the Ashland Police Department for 15 years. Time is one of the most valuable gifts we can offer and Doris gave away a fortune.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert. She leaves a daughter, Lori Irene Palacio-Garris; and son-in-law, John Garris; both of California, and numerous friends. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, October 15, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church of Ashland, 175 N. Main St., Ashland, Ore.
