Ken passed away quietly October 3, 2011, at home with family present. He was born May 8, 1919, in Forbes, Minn. He had three sisters and three brothers. He helped his dad on the farm for several years. He moved to California with a brother when he was 21.

Ken served in the army during World War II. He was on the front line in Italy when he was wounded. He received the Purple Heart and was honorably discharged. He married Bertha in 1945. Bertha passed away in 1997. Ken joined the Phoenix First Presbyterian Church in 1998, where he met and married his present wife, LaVon, in 2004.

Ken enjoyed fishing and building birdhouses and other things. He also loved to cook.

Ken is survived by his wife, LaVon; his sister, Letty, of Front Royal, Va.; a grandson, Randy Churchhill; great-grandson, Kenny Churchill, of White City, Ore.; his granddaughter, Laura (Dave) Meisch; great-granddaughter, Holly Meisch; and great-grandson, Riley Meisch, of Ojai, Calif.

A memorial service for Kenneth N. Amundson will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 8, 2011, at the First Presbyterian Church in Phoenix, Ore.
