Joseph Irving King Jr., was born January 12, 1953, in Washington, D.C., and raised in Annapolis, Md., by his parents, Catherine and Joseph King. He later served in the United States Marines.

In February of 1984, in Bullhead City, Ariz., he married the former Paige Elizabeth Poff.

Mr. King was a brick mason and concrete worker for many years and retired in 2000. He lived in Ashland, Ore., from the early 1980s until 2005, when he moved to Medford, Ore.

He enjoyed playing the harmonica and all activities outdoors.

Surviving are his wife, Paige Elizabeth King, of Medford; daughter, Hannah Elizabeth King, of Medford; and three sons, Jarred, Jason, and Jamie Paul Rice, all of Medford.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 2, 2011, at the Litwiller Simonsen Funeral Home, in Ashland. Interment will follow at the Mountain View Cemetery in Ashland.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., on Thursday, September 1, 2011, at the Litwiller Simonsen Funeral Home in Ashland.
