Edgar Ray Allen, 79, passed away Monday, May 23, 2011, in Medford, Ore. He was born March 13, 1932, in Bell, Calif., to Ray and Vesta Allen. He was the third of six children. Siblings include brothers, Robert, Bill, Gene and Richard; and sister, Donna Johnson.

Edgar graduated from Ashland High School in 1951. He worked for McGrew Brother's Lumber in Ashland, and White City Plywood and Lanagers of Ashland.

Edgar enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, carpentry work and gardening. He was a member of the Medford Elks Lodge. After retiring, Edgar moved to Cherryvale, Kans., from 1995 to 2010. In 2010, Edgar moved back to Medford, where he spent the remainder of his days. He will be remembered by his family and friends as a man of many talents, and true gentleman.

Edgar Ray Allen is survived by his children, Ed Allen, of Trail, Ore., James Allen, of Sumter, S.C., Linda Berryman, of Central Point, Ore., and Kathy Barlow, of Medford, Ore.; six grandsons; and one granddaughter; siblings, Robert Allen, of Kansas City, Mo., and Gene Allen, of Eagle Point, Ore. He was preceded in death by brothers, Richard and Bill; and sister, Donna Johnson.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, June 2, 2011, at First Baptist Church in Medford, at 4:30 p.m., Pastor Greg Spires officiating. Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Ashland, Ore.
