David LeRoy D'Olivo
David LeRoy D'Olivo, 74, passed away April 30, 2011, in Mesa, Ariz. Dave was born on March 4, 1937, in Klamath Falls, Ore., to Pio and Angelina D'Olivo.
Dave was an outstanding athlete, winning many awards, including National Association of Intercollegiate Athetics Hall of Fame and later S.O.U. Sports Hall of Fame.
In 1958, he married Carol Risner, and they had two children, Mark and Wendy D'Olivo. Dave and Carol later divorced.
Dave retired from the Ashland School District in 1991, after serving 32 years as athletic director. In 1991, Dave was named Oregon Athletic Director of the Year.
Dave is survived by his wife of 22 years, Dixie D'Olivo; two children, Mark D'Olivo (Ginger), of Ashland, Ore., and Wendy D'Olivo, of Huntersville, N.C.; one brother, Don D'Olivo (Alison), of Klamath Falls, Ore.; one niece, Anna D'Olivo, of Klamath Falls; one nephew, Michael D'Olivo, of Klamath Falls; Dixie's children, Debbie Phillips Wickersham (Harold), of Riley, Ore., and Andy Phillips, of Talent, Ore.
At his request, he was cremated and there will be no service. Memorial contributions may be made to the George Robertson Scholarship Fund, Ashland High School or S.O.U. Athletic Foundation, Southern Oregon University, Ashland, OR 97520.
