Troy Hemmerling, artist and set designer, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2011, at his home in Ashland, Ore. He was 48.
With passion and perfectionism, Troy brought his creative talents to set design for regional theaters, including the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, and more recently, the Utah Shakespearean Festival.
A lifelong athlete and outdoorsman, Troy played competitive level ultimate Frisbee for over 17 years, designing hats, discs, and shirts for many teams and tournaments along the way. Troy directed Ashland's annual Cramp Up Ultimate Tournament for 13 years, and captained the Cramp Up champion Pirates de Amor team for three years.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Ginny, and daughter, Tess. Troy is also survived by his brother, Michael and wife, Gail; mother, Barrie Eskridge; and stepfather, Jim Eskridge. Troy's father, Thomas Hemmerling, preceded him in death. Troy was the beloved son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Auer. Troy will be remembered by his many friends, especially, Paul James Martin.
Troy loved life, laughed easily, and will be missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of life, with potluck gathering, will be held Friday, May 6th, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at 1716 Parker Street, Ashland, Ore.
Memorial donations can be directed to Kids Konnected c/o United Way of Jackson County, a cancer support group for kids whose parents are dealing with cancer.
