Dennis Steers, a spokesman for the Oregon Department of Transportation, said the schedule could be affected by rains, which could interfere with striping needed to guide traffic.

A private contractor, Oregon State Bridge, is replacing Ashland's exit 19 overpass (Valley View Road) with a wider structure featuring a center turn lane and wide shoulders to accommodate bicycles.

The $5.7 million project began in summer 2010.
