The dual included two three-set affairs and Ashland took both: Ian Murray and Mack Tulley won their No. 2 doubles match over Matt and Ryan Hogan, 7-5, 5-7, 6-0; and Garrett Johnson and Forrest Kollar came back to defeat Troy Behnke and Landon Sherbourne at No. 4 doubles, 2-6, 6-4, 6-3.

Girls tennis

Ashland won three of four singles matches, including Laurel Sager's resounding 6-0, 6-0 victory over Cali Hale at No. 1 singles to defeat North Medford, 5-3, Tuesday at North Medford High School.

At No. 1 doubles, Ashland's Hanna Greenberg and River Davis survived a second-set setback to defeat Isabella Duncan and Kami Goodson, 6-0, 5-7, 6-1.

College football

The first spring ball season for new Southern Oregon head football coach Craig Howard will kickoff Friday afternoon.

Friday's practice at 4 p.m. on the SOU practice field will be the first of 15 practices set for the Raiders that will conclude with the annual Red and Black Spring Game, 7 p.m. May 6 at Raider Stadium.

SOU has 65 players on the roster for Spring Ball this year.

Following Friday's practice, the schedule will consist of practices every Tuesday and Thursday at 4 p.m. and scrimmages on Saturday's.

The first scrimmage on April 16 will be held at the SOU practice field at 4 p.m. On April 23, the Raiders will scrimmage at Grants Pass High School at 4 p.m., and on April 30 SOU will scrimmage at Spiegelberg Stadium in Medford at 6 p.m.

"We really want to emphasize that this is the valley and Southern Oregon's program," Howard said. "Hopefully we can establish this tradition and develop an even larger fan base in these communities."

A free kids clinic will be included in both Grants Pass and Medford prior to the scrimmage.
