Mildred L. "Minnie" Gibson passed away on April 2, 2011, in Ashland, Ore. She was born on December 18, 1911, in Island City, Ore., to Andrew and Mary Van Blokland, and grew up on the family ranch in LaGrande, Ore.

On October 18, 1934, Mildred married William "Buster" Gibson. After their marriage, the couple lived in various towns throughout Oregon as Buster worked for the Oregon State Highway Department. They settled for several years in Klamath Falls, where Mildred worked as an elementary school cook. They finally moved to Ashland where Mildred became the head cook at Briscoe School until her retirement.

Mildred was a longtime member of the Bellview Grange. She enjoyed growing many flowers, the mountains, holidays, cooking, and most of all her grandchildren and their families. She also enjoyed the many friends she made during the last few years while residing at Mt. View Retirement Home in Ashland.

She is survived by her son, Edward Gibson (Brenda); three grandchildren, Mark Gibson (Cori), Michelle Callahan, Bill Gibson (Julie); six great-grandchildren; and three great great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter, her parents, and eleven brothers and sisters.

The memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 9, 2011, at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland, Ore.
