Christopher Jon Deason passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2011, in Medford, Ore.

He was born in Medford, Ore., on August 30, 1969. Although too short a time for his family and friends, we can say with honesty that Chris lived a very full life. He welcomed adventure, made friends with everyone and left a legacy in all the places he lived, including Portland, Ore., San Francisco, Calif., and Florida. His charisma and charm, witty personality and unwavering loyalty made him a friend for life. The endless flow of text messages, emails, postings and phone calls have humbled his family and shown just how much he was loved and will be missed.

He is survived by parents, Jon and Ginnie Deason; brother, Kelly Deason (Jennifer Heitz); sister, Erin (Barry) Carpenter; cousin/sister, Maureen Barber; nieces, Lauren and Paige Carpenter; nephew, Carter Deason; and a thousand friends and family from across the country.

We mourn the loss of our son, brother, uncle and friend. We loved him, will miss him deeply, and he will live on in our hearts every day. Although they are too young to understand at this moment in time, Uncle Chris instilled his love of books in his nieces and nephew, and they will always remember the endless hours spent reading with him.

Chris was an avid lover of skiing and recently expressed that he was happiest when he was skiing with friends up on the mountain, where many friends have already gathered to remember and celebrate him. In lieu of flowers, the family asks remembrances be made in Chris's name to support the Mt. Ashland Ski Patrol. Donations can be sent to Mt. Ashland, Attn: Kim Clark, P.O. Box 220, Ashland, Oregon 97520.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2011, from 3:00 p.m. 5 p.m., at the historic US Hotel Ballroom in Jacksonville, Ore. His ashes will be shared with his family and closest friends from Oregon to California to Florida, who have graciously agreed to return with him to all of the places he loved the most.
