April 12, 1979 - Jan. 7, 2011
Erin Gardner Wilkey, 31, passed away on Friday, January 7, 2011, in Portland, Ore., surrounded by family and friends,
after a courageous battle with breast cancer.
Erin grew up in Tigard, Oregon. In 1997, after graduating from Jesuit High, she moved to Ashland, Ore., to attend Southern Oregon University, and ended up making Ashland her home. Over the next 13 years she worked as a nanny, as volunteer coordinator for Dunn House, and as a teacher at the Family Nurturing Center in Medford.
Erin embraced everything life had to offer. She was a dancer, loved to garden, enjoyed knitting and just being in close
connection to her friends and family. She was a continuous giver to every person who touched her life. In Erin's short time with us, she left a tremendous impact. She will be
deeply missed by family and friends.
Erin is survived by her parents, Judy and John Wilkey; older siblings, Lisa and Gregg; and by many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. A graveside and funeral service were held in Tigard, Ore., on January 15, 2011.
Friends and family will celebrate Erin's life by sharing
memories and offerings on Saturday, January 22, 2011, at the Old Siskiyou Barn, in Ashland, Ore., between 3:00-5:30 p.m. The ceremony will be followed by a potluck and dancing. Please bring a story or offering to share, an item for the altar and/or a flower for a bouquet, any photograph you have of Erin to add to our ribbon of photos, and, if you feel so moved, a favorite dish and serving utensils. For directions to the Old Siskiyou Barn, call 541- 488-7979. For other
