Kolton Mahr (13), Taylor Griggs (12) and Josh Evens (11) also reached double figures for the Cavemen (5-6), who had to do without the services of 6-foot-5 post Nathan Etheridge after he picked up two technical fouls and was ejected in the first quarter.

Jonathan Mills scored 13 points to lead Ashland (6-6), while Billy Hansen added nine points and seven rebounds. Jake McCoy also had a solid game with six points, three steals and three assists for the Grizzlies.

Ashland hosts Henley tonight at 7.

Girls Basketball

Grants Pass won the battle in the paint, scoring 12 second-chance points which made the difference in a 40-30 nonconference victory Friday over Ashland, at Grants Pass.

Maricela Aguilera went for 12 points, six steals, four rebounds, three assists and a block for the Cavers (4-7), who did a better job boxing out down low. Annie Edgar collected 10 rebounds to go with her six points.

Willie Michiels led the way for the Grizzlies (4-7) with 11 points and eight rebounds while Sarah Kasia chipped in nine points and Allison Shulenberger logged five points, six boards and three steals.

Women's Basketball

Each member of the Southern Oregon women's team scored and seven players had at least eight points as the Raiders cruised to a 79-57 victory over Evergreen State Saturday at McNeal Pavilion.

Southern Oregon improved to 11-8 overall and 4-3 in Cascade Conference play and hosts Northwest tonight at 7:30. Evergreen dropped to 3-10 overall and 1-5 in conference.

Jamie Roupp led SOU with 12 points, while Alexi Smith had 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Shekia Hill and LaTrina Woods both had 14 points for Evergreen.

SOU blew open a close game early with back-to-back 3-pointers by Carly Wood and Whitney Scott for a 14-4 lead. Josi McDermott added a 3-pointer for a 20-8 SOU lead and the Raiders never looked back.

SOU held Evergreen to 36 percent shooting for the game.

Scott finished with nine points, while McDermott, Wood, Nalani Barnes and Krystal Smith all had eight points.
