For the month of December Ashland Kiwanis has recognized Yeruti Estigarribia as its student of the month.
For the month of December, Ashland Kiwanis has recognized Yeruti Estigarribia as its student of the month.
Estigarribia is the daughter of Roi Crouch and Jim Quinby.
Some of the honors and awards that she has received include the National Honor Society (four years) and the Math Honor Society (three years). Estigarribia is maintaining a cumulative GPA of 4.0.
Estigarribia has held many leadership positions during her four-year AHS career, including 2010-2011 senior student body secretary/treasurer; 2009-2010 junior class president; 2008-2009 sophomore class secretary/treasurer; and 2007-2008 freshman class president. She has also been the School Board student liaison for 2010-2011.
Estigarribia has been a Relay for Life team member from 2003 to 2011 — since the third grade. She also has been a member of the Global Citizen Corps, serving as its president in 2010-2011.
She found time to be a Natural Helper and involve herself as a member of the Interact Club, Gay Straight Alliance and the Catholic Club.
Estigarribia has participated on the cross country and tennis teams at various stages of her high school career. Estigarribia also has an interest in dance. She has danced since the age of three. She enjoys all types of dance, including modern, jazz, contemporary, ballet, aerial and tango.
She has been a teaching assistant for four years, and she has been a choreographer. She was accepted to the Idyllwild Arts Academy summer camp in 2007-2008, and she was accepted to Interlochen Arts Academy during in her junior year.
Her future interests includes a career in dance at New York University, or possibly nursing or pre-med at the University of Portland and at the Oregon Health Science University.
A senior student from the Ashland High School is honored each month during the school year. Each student of the month receives an award certificate and a $100 savings bond. During the month of May in 2011, two of the nine monthly winners for the current school year will be further honored with a $1,000 Tommy Laird Kiwanis College Scholarship.
