A controlled burn to reduce wildfire fuels will be conducted by the Bureau of the Land Management near Ashland today, Nov. 19.

The burn will take place west of the city above the Ashland Mine Road neighborhood. Smoke from the fire may be visible in parts of Ashland and Talent on Highway 99 and Interstate 5.

The fire is the final phase of a fuels reduction project to create a strategic fire suppression opportunity on the edge of Ashland.
