The National Weather Service in Medford has issued a winter weather advisory that will remain in effect overnight.

Forecasters say snow levels now close to 5,000 feet will drop to 4,000 feet today, when snow is likely on the Siskiyou Summit over Interstate 5, on Highway 140 near Lake of the Woods and on Highway 62 as it heads toward Crater Lake.

A trace of snow fell on Interstate 5 overnight, but the new forecast predicts 6 to 9 inches more between this morning and overnight tonight.

Forecasters expect snow to stop falling by early Wednesday.

Rain and highs in the upper 40s are forecast in Medford today, with lows falling to around 40 tonight.
