Three days following a joyous celebration of her 104th birthday, Sally passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 23, 2010, at Oxford Gardens in Ashland, Ore.

Sally learned her strong work ethic and sense of thriftiness from working as a child in her parents deli in Hyde Park. Among her fondest Chicago memories were graduations from Englewood High School and secretarial work in the Loop and the Merchandise Mart.

Sally married the love of her life, Martlin L. Buckner, in 1949, and immediately thereafter ventured to Los Angeles, Calif., where they enjoyed 56 years of married life prior to his passing in 2007. Her love, warmth and creativity were expressed through her wonderful baking and cooking. She was an avid gardener and passionate crossword puzzle devotee. Sally had a great sense of humor and was a firecracker until the day she died. She always said that her husband was taken too young; he was 99 when he passed away.

Sally will be buried in Los Angeles, Calif., reuniting her with Martin; as well as her parents, Lottie and Abe Glick; her beloved sister, Hannah; and her niece, Lynne, all whom preceded her in passing. Her memory will be cherished by her nephew, Richard and her great-niece, Lorien and her husband Dj.

Our heartfelt appreciation is extended to Kathy and the compassionate and highly skilled staff at Oxford Gardens, as well as the nurses at Ashland Community Hospital Hospice Program. They truly were her angels in passing. We love you Sally, and were blessed to have you in our lives.
