Detectives from the Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement Team arrested two suspected heroin dealers near Ashland High School Thursday.

Sydney Rebekah Green, 21, and Keenan Matthew Elai McGrew, 27, were both arrested at a home in the 900 block of Blaine Street.

They were lodged in the Jackson County Jail on charges of possession of heroin and manufacture and delivery of heroin within 1,000 feet of a school.

The two appeared in Jackson County Circuit Court Friday to hear the charges against them. Judge Tim Barnack set McGrew's bail at $20,000 and signed a release order for Green. Both were still in jail Friday evening.

Medford police Lt. Tim Doney, who heads the regional drug-enforcement team, said investigators heard complaints about heroin dealing in the neighborhood behind the school.

MADGE detectives and Ashland police searched the Blaine Street home on Sept. 10 and seized a quarter of an ounce of heroin, scales, packaging materials, drug paraphernalia and cash suspected of being drug proceeds, he said in a news release Friday.

No arrests were made then, but the investigation continued.

At about 2:15 p.m. Thursday, police returned to the home and arrested McGrew and Green.

A third suspect in the case has been indicted on a charge of possession of heroin, but hasn't been arrested yet, court records show.
