Ballet in the Park: Dance companies Ballet Rogue and Ballet Diane Hyrst will perform at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, July 25, at the Butler Bandshell in Ashland's Lithia Park. "Adiagio for Strings," a work for string orchestra by American Samuel Barber, will be choreographed by Eric Hyrst. The piece will feature dancers Kendra Cole and Nick D. Horiates. Admission is free. STYX and Steve Poltz: Progressive rock band STYX will perform at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, at the Britt Pavilion in Jacksonville. One hORSE sHY: The Ashland-based alternative country band will perform at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, in the Bear Creek Amphitheater at Bear Creek Park on Siskiyou Boulevard in Medford. The outdoor concert is part of the StateFarm Summer Concert Series. Admission is free. Blankets, lawn chairs and umbrellas are allowed, but do not obstruct the view of others.

2010 britt classical festival: The 48th annual Classical Festival, under the music direction of Peter Bay, will include seven orchestral concerts — with music from Rachmaninoff to Rodrigo — including a recital by the Arianna String Quartet and performances by the Britt Orchestra and by students from the Britt Institute String Quartet Academy. The annual gala opening night concert will be held Aug. 6 and feature a champagne picnic and music by Dvorák, Saint-Saëns and Shostakovich performed by the Britt Orchestra with solo violinist Chee-Yun. Tickets to the picnic cost $30 and must be purchased separately. Tickets to the concert cost $37 for reserved seating, $27 for lawn and $10 for ages 12 and younger.
