A lineup of regional musicians will present a day of rock, blues, folk, country and bluegrass at the historic Union Creek Resort on Highway 62. The new Union Creek Music Festival will be held in conjunction with the 21st Annual Fly-In this weekend at the Prospect airport.

Rock and R&B band Mercy, featuring vocalist Lynda Morrison, will kick off the music festival at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, July 17, at the resort.

Other artists set to perform are folksinger and songwriter Christina Duane, roots and blues group Broadway Phil and the Shouters, country and blues artist Warren Wolfe and cowboy poet and balladeer Butch Martin and his Rogue Valley Riders. The Sons of Oregon will wrap up the festival with songs and cowboy poetry around a campfire. Visitors should bring lawn chairs or blankets.

A trolley will be available to shuttle visitors between the Union Creek Music Festival and the Fly-In Saturday and Sunday. The Prospect airport is one mile south of Prospect. The event is open to flyers and nonflyers, and a steak and chicken barbecue dinner will be available at 5:30 p.m. Saturday. The cost is $17; $7 for vegetarian meal. Only 200 dinners will be served. A breakfast of ham, hotcakes, eggs, hash browns, biscuits and gravy will be served from 6:30 to 10 a.m. Sunday, July 18. Cost is $6, $20 for both meals. Children ages 6 to 12 eat for half-price.

Hamburgers, hot dogs, bratwurst, chips and beverages will be available at the Union Creek Music Festival. Becky's Cafe also will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Admission to the festival is $12.50, $9.50 for ages 9 through 16, and tickets are available at the gate. Advance admission is $10, $7 for ages 9 through 16, and is available online at www.unioncreekresort.com or by calling 541-360-3565.

Also on Saturday, there will be a contra and square dance with live music by Bo Leyden, Cyd Smith and William Green at the Prospect Community Center, 305 Red Blanket Road. Woody Lane will be the caller. Admission is $5. Children 12 and younger will be admitted free.
