Los Angeles' premier guitar ensemble New West returns to Southern Oregon after performing at the Britt Festivals in 2009.

New West, a Los Angeles-based guitar trio, returns to Southern Oregon after performing at the Britt Festivals in 2009.

New West guitarists John Storie, Perry Smith and Brady Cohan will play at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 10, at Paschal Winery, 1122 Suncrest Road, Talent.

The young trio's signature sound is rooted in jazz and infused with blues, rock and folk. The trio is touring through Oregon promoting its third full-length album, "Sleeping Lady," a sophisticated jazz compilation with a hint of folk. The album also features Grammy-nominated jazz vocalist Gretchen Parlato, as well as acoustic guitarist Jeff Traugott.

Storie, Smith and Cohan all were music majors at the University of Southern California when they established New West. As a fledgling group, it became the first to receive the Thornton Protégé Grant, awarded to students who demonstrate outstanding potential in the musical realm. The Los Angeles Sister Cities Committee also nominated the group as musical ambassadors of Los Angeles, an honor which allowed it to perform at the 2005 World Exposition in Japan and the 2007 German-American Volksfest in Germany.

The group has continued to perform nationally and internationally.

Tickets to Saturday's show cost $10 in advance or $15 at the door. Call 541-488-3869 or e-mail info@siskiyouinstitute.com for reservations
